Golden Globes 2013

This post is overdue. But The Golden Globes have come and gone. Hollywood celebs get to showcase their achievement by flaunting their dresses as if to say the bigger/ sparkler dresses, the bigger achievement? Yay or nay?

Here are my picks of celebrity styles on the red carpet.

My favourite is of course the glowing Anne Hathaway in a sparkly Chanel couture. Simplicity at its best.

Love her. In Alexander Mcqueen.

Kerry Washington  in Miu Miu

Rosario Dawson in Antonio Berardi

Marchesa Nude Pink Dress

Minus the bulu-bulu and sleeveless, I want something similar to this as my wedding dress.

There's something about nude/ dusty pink that attract me much. Always.

Too much?

A girl can only dream! ;)

Diamond Night Coming Up!

It's Diamond night next Saturday on the 21st and I'm so excited to see the awards receivers especially both my sifus, Aliah Nasreen and Nadia Bakly on stage to receive their awards. Both have been doing this for nearly a year as part timers, but both have achieved so so much. Don't talk about income la kan, they are already in that range of 5 figures. How in the world man? Read their journey by clicking at their names above.

So, diamond night. Looking forward to attend this dinner as  it's my first time! The theme is red and black, but awards receivers will be in gold and black. They are the stars for the night so gold is the way! Either way, we girls will be all groomed, dolled up and dandy.. and of course there will be photo sessions. Will post photos soon when it's done.

Ohh nak pakai ape ni?

Always the favourite - Elie Saab

But lately I have a thing for Elie Saab and his creations/designs, so I thought, let's check out this Golden Globe awards. And yes, my instinct was right, Elie Saab's presented his  dress beautifully and the dress was worn by the divine looking Jessica Biel. So laaawwwwaa and it's long sleeves!

Style Icon 3 - Elie Saab Fall Winter 2011-2012

I just love Elie Saab's Haute Couture collection for Fall Winter 2011-2012.

Jatuh cinta dengan semuanya.

He's a wizardy-magician transforming everything into fairy tales.
Typically of Mr. Saab, as expected that his dresses are always exquisitely breathtaking. A trademark. Heavy laces and chiffon with sequins and pearls in nude and dusty colours which are classy enough to wear for red carpet events and weddings for the brides.

 I'm already thinking of mine.

Style Icon 2: Rizalman Ibrahim

A lot of people have asked me before on who's my favourite designer..truthfully, I can't answer that question as my knowledge about the fashion world is limited. Don't get me wrong, I love fashion, I love clothes and accessories, handbags and what not, but to be an expertise on that area and for me to give fashion advices to people, nope..I'm still not there.

So, favourite fashion people? For me, it is not Vera Wang or even Alexander McQueen. I can't relate to their designs. (See, I told you I'm not there). But what I love to see everyday, it's the designs by one of our prominent local designer, Rizalman Ibrahim. Fabulousity by Rizalman. He is fabulous!

The thing is about me, I don't fancy too much frills, laces, beads, colours, etc. Too much of everything is not good. I love simplicity, fresh and clean. I love traditional and modern to be combined, but not over the top combination, and I find that quality in Rizalman's creations.

To me, Rizalman's creations are epics. He's a real couturier. Not everyone who sells and designs clothes are couturier. Bukan calang-calang orang boleh di label as couterier. This label is an establishment and I think Rizalman has already established himself  as Malaysian couterier since long ago before any other new local fashion designers were even born. One of the first in line of the greatest Malaysian fashion designers alongside Bernard Chandran, Zhang Toi, Radzuan Radziwill and many more.

I shall not elaborate more and let the pictures do the talking. Pictures are taken from Rizalman's blog, which is full of his stories and insights on fashion designing, life, travel and living and also his son. Such delighful tales. Oh, did I tell you Rizalman does interior designing as well?

I like this one the most!

Thus, this will be put under my wish list. *cough*

Kate - Catherine of Cambridge

Did any of you watched the Royal Wedding?

Ok, stupid question kan? Of course you all did! *slaps forehead*

To me, the highlights of the wedding were:

1. Kate Middleton, which are now to be called Princess William; Duchess of Cambridge
2. The Dress

Nothing else except Kate and her dress(es). Mainly it's because the wedding is solely a typical royal wedding where the guests are pretty much the same people from the royal family, ministers, celebrities and many more people 'up there'. But I was excited to see Sultan Mizan's little face from the crowd. Ahaha.

Anyhow, Kate Middleton is a stunning lady. She's the epitome of 'less is more', as been said. She doesn't overdo, elegant and she got a class of her own. Her silent voice when she said her vows reveals her personality, which make her suitable to be one of the members of the royal family and most importantly, The Queen when William holds the throne.

She's simple and that really portrays her humble being. I got to know that she did her own make-up for her wedding because as according to some websites that I read, she wants to at least keep some 'normalcy' in her life. I think that is just awesome. A lot of people that I know would hire professional make-up artist for weddings, because first, they don't know how to use cosmetics  the correct way (like me!) and second, they would want to look   different and stand out from the crowd since it's their BIG DAY kan? But this young lady is more comfortable to do her own. Check her out man.

And the dress. I bet brides- to- be out there are re-thinking of their own dress. I would if I'm them too. Maybe not the whole style, but the concept of simple and elegant is just breathtakingly beautiful. I know I know, 'breathtakingly beautiful' is just so overrated (everyone has been saying that lately this week after the Royal Wedding), but that phrase is just for Kate.

Kuddos to Sarah Burton! I've never heard of her but she certainly did a great job (clearly it's because I never follow any fashion news). Lepas ni lagi meletop la Sarah Burton ni ye tak?

Catherine Middleton is the Princess Diana today. As suspected, the reason Prince William chose Kate to be his wife, because she can offer him normalcy in his life like what his late mother had been wanting for himself and Harry. Kate gave him a sense of fresh air and also she reminds him of his beloved late mother. Apart from that, it looked like Kate is loved by the members of the Royal Family especially the Queen. I guess that's pretty important isn't it?

May they live happily ever after.

Jellowww Pumps

Furniture company Kartell has teamed up with Moschino to design a pair of jelly flats. The flats, which come in a rainbow of colours, were designed to look like a single ribbon wrapped around the wearers foot and tied in a bow. And for you eco-fashion enthusiasts, the shoes are made of 100% recyclable non-toxic thermoplastic.
Love it love it! And it's affordable!!!

Oh My Chanel!

Chanel's Rai$ing Handbag Prices
If you had your eye on a Chanel handbag, buy it now because prices are about to go up!
Experts say the French fashion house has plans to increase their pricing on classic style handbags as much as 20%. The Chanel gurus blame the rising demand and the difficult manufacturing process for the price hike.
Kind of a bad time to be raising prices, especially when the luxury market is slowly showing some improvements.
Thoughts???

AREN'T THEY GORGEOUS?

Chanel is already bloody expensive and they decided to raise the price up?
But, it's Chanel anyways. One can never manufactured a low range Chanel. It won't be Chanel then.

Ok, bimbo moment

Style Icon 1 - Olivia Palermo

Who’s Olivia Palermo?
Olivia Palermo is an American It-girl, socialite in New York City, model and actress. She stars in MTV’s reality show, The Hills (spinoff) and The City (as one of the main character) where she is a friend of Whitney Port (the main girl in the City). She’s also a PR working under Diane von Furstenburgh. Many people presume that the character Blaire Waldorf in Gossip Girl is based on Olivia Palermo.
image
Blair Waldorf does looked a bit like her, isn’t she?
Olivia doesnt need her own fashion line, to me, she is fashion. Olivia doesnt need to prove her fashion sense and capabilities because one look at her and you know she knows what shes talking about. She may not be the best person (as a journalist or reporter) to work in fashion magazine industry, but she is definitely going to be a fashion icon in a class of her own. (watch The City, you’ll know what I’m talking about)
image
Everything she touches is hot and classy and she knows what to choose and put together. The things I like about her is that, believe it or not, she is attainable to the everyday working girl and her fashion closet, because Olivia isn’t opposed to mixing and matching low end items and high end ones. Most of the haters are just jealous, and regardless of what they think or say, in my point of view, I can see Olivia reaching the top.(Watch The City to know more).
image
While I find her character on The City extremely annoying, I cannot deny her awesome style and the beautifully put together outfits. To me, she’s just nice. Not too over the top, not trashy at all, never over-sexy. Just perfect, classy “leave something to the imagination” style of dressing and I admire and that I prefer for myself.
image
I spot a Birkin bag!

image
I am mesmerized on Olivia’s style is her instinct to mix things up. She’s often seen wearing classic labels with young, edgy designers like Erin Fetherston and Kimberley Ovitz, as well as high street buys such as Zara, H&M and Topshop (ok, that is something that I could actually afford) and with all that, she could still pull of her own feminine-chic style.

Fur coat

image
Every girl must have at least 2 LBD
image
I am digging her glittery blazer and look at that shiny mustard peep toes?

image
Less is more, that’s her motto!

Her style is more relaxed and sober (I want to say ‘controlled’ but it doesn’t sound … fashionist?), but still with a twist of chic-ness. She normally goes for a light weighted t-shirt or a loose blouse, mainly pair it with shorts and ballet pumps for a normal day out in the city. Sunglasses and a ‘wow’ handbag are a must to close the look. Less is definitely more!

image
image
Look at that wild Sun-G. Not everyone can pull off this type of Sun-G just like that right?
image
Stripesssss!

Checked!
image
Black and beige. You don’t need flashy colours to stand out!
image
Palermo in many colours and bright yellow cardi!

image
J’adore! Black and white. Basic is classic..
image
image
image
I am in love with her preppy style!
image
My favourite look: Pink loose coat thrown on top of black chiffon blouse n grey shorts. Her mary-jane heels seal the look!

Isn’t she a divine? I love her for her exquisite taste in fashion and style, regardless all the nasty gossips that has hit her, her style is still fabulous!
